We wanted to inform everyone about the service project that the student ambassadors are organizing at Lake Myra called, 'Helping Hands for Haiti'. Some of you may know Kednal Civil(Mr. Zo)... he is one of our night custodians. He has been diligently and single-handedly collecting school supplies for students in his native island of Haiti, and we thought we could give him a hand.
From June 10th until June 26, there will be a big, blue bin located in the main office hallway. We are going to be asking parents, staff, and community members to donate what they can to provide school supplies for children in Haiti.
Our ambitious goal is to collect the following:
500 #2 pencils
500 rulers
500 pencil sharpeners
500 single subject notebooks
500 rubber erasers
500 blue ink pens
Our student ambassadors have worked really hard on this, but we need the whole school to get involved. It's a great way to "Think Win-Win" and teach our kids the joy of giving, as we help the students in Haiti experience the joy of learning.
